Current Projects
Division 31
In May 2026, Councillor Hart and Peel Regional Police welcomed Division 31 to Ward 5. Now fully operational and open to the public, this marks the first new Peel Regional Police division opened in more than 20 years.
This new full-service police facility represents a major investment in community safety and includes dedicated officers, modern facilities, and the resources needed to better respond to the needs of Ward 5’s growing communities and business areas.
“When I first took office, I made community safety a top priority,” said Councillor Natalie Hart. “Residents and business owners consistently raised concerns around safety, response times, and the need for stronger community presence. After years of advocacy and collaboration, I’m proud to see this important investment now open and serving our community.”
Importantly, this project was achieved with no additional cost to taxpayers through strong partnerships, strategic planning, and collaboration between Peel Regional Police, the GTAA, and community stakeholders.
Malton Projects
Goreway Drive Overpass
The Goreway Drive Overpass opened in Fall 2025. This four-lane bridge bypasses the CN tracks which sees approximately 50 freight trains a day, significantly improving traffic flow.
Additional improvements to Goreway Drive include:

Paul Coffey Park
The Paul Coffey Park Master Plan is a major redevelopment of this public space to improve the amenities it provides to our community. The goals of the plan include:

Continue to provide recreational opportunities

Restore some existing park features

Improve safety

Enhance the landscape
Major construction is already underway and is moving towards completion.
Malton Community Centre
Recent renovations have improved the Malton Community Centre and the breadth of services it provides to residents.
Upgrades include:

a series of multipurpose rooms outfitted with kitchenettes and audio-visual systems

gym/fitness area (features a double gym)
-
completely redesigned change rooms with adjacent steam rooms
-
staff office
-
meeting room and storage/service spaces
-
upgrades to all finishes
-
new LED-fixture lighting
-
better sightlines for added “passive security”
Neighbourhood Park Improvement
Elmcreek Park
The City is making improvements to Elmcreek Park to better serve the community. These improvements are part of the City’s long-term park development strategy for Elmcreek Park. The existing community garden and parking lots in the park will stay the same. Proposed improvements to the park include:

Barrier-free playground which would replace the existing playground

Seating area with shade umbrella tables

Beach volleyball court

Improved basketball court

Fitness stations

Natural ice rink

Improved spray pad

Community plaza
Construction is anticipated to be completed Summer 2026.
Albert McBride Park
Replacement of the playground and improved walkway lighting.
Ridgewood Park
Replacement of the playground and splashpad, along with improved walkway lighting and new plantings.
Traffic Calming
The intersection of Morningstar/Catalpha has been redesigned to improve traffic flow and pedestrian safety.
Darcel has seen the addition of speedbumps along with additional stop signs. Netherwood has had speedbumps expanded, including the area near the schools.
Extensive use of the “slow streets bollard” program across the community.
Britannia Projects
Neighbourhood Park Improvement
Grand Highland
The City of Mississauga purchased the 28 acre property that formerly housed the Grand Highland Golf Course to convert it into a public park driven by the community’s vision.
The Concept Plan includes mixed used trails, other recreational opportunities, green space, and recognition of the First Nations and Indigenous communities that have stewarded the land. Phase 2 of public consultation was completed with results published in May 2026. Information on the final design and construction will be made available soon.
Frank McKechnie Community Centre
The City has invested in Frank McKechnie Community Centre, an important hub that serves residents of Ward 5 and nearby parts of Mississauga. Recent upgrades include improvements to the building’s HVAC and pool equipment, as well as flooring and other lifecycle replacements to ensure the facility will continue to serve residents for years to come.
McLaughlin Scenic Route
The McLaughlin Road Corridor Project (Bristol Rd to Britannia) will protect the McLaughlin Scenic Route while enhancing quality of life for area residents. The project is now in the Detailed Design Phase with construction scheduled to start in April 2027, and completion in December 2027.
In addition to protecting the Scenic Route and the tree canopy, improvements include (but are not limited to):

Additional boulevard trees

Utility relocations (where required)

Improved sidewalks

New cycling facilities along the entire corridor

New traffic signals at Regal Drive, Avonwick Avenue, and Faith Drive/Parkwood Place for safer pedestrian and cyclist crossings

Crossrides at all signalized and non-signalized intersections

Protected intersections (exact configuration to be confirmed during detailed design)

Transit stop improvements
Neighbourhood Park Improvement

Red Brush Park has seen upgrades that include an improved playground and increased walkway lightning, with the addition of a washroom planned for 2027.

Saigon Park has evolved to become an important cultural and recreational hub. Construction will begin later in 2026 on a new cricket field and batting cage, along with washrooms, shade areas and stands.

Philippine Park has seen recently completed new tennis courts, upgraded fencing, surfacing, painting and more.

Avonwick Tennis Courts have had new fencing, surfacing, painting and more recently completed. Iceland has a new multi-use skate ramp within a new, modern skatepark. The new skatepark will maintain the skate ramp’s current function while improving safety and accessibility. Construction will begin in 2027.

Barondale Park has had its shade structure replaced.
Traffic Safety Measures

Heritage Hills has seen the addition of speedbumps and additional stop signs.

Nahani has had speedbumps added to improve community safety.
