Tackle Crime & Keep Our Streets Safe
I am committed to ensuring Ward 5 remains a safe and secure place for everyone. My plan focuses on:
-
Combating Auto Theft & Speeding: Working with local authorities to address rising auto theft rates and enforce measures to crack down on dangerous speeding.
-
Improving Street Lighting: Enhancing nighttime street lighting in key areas to deter criminal activity and make our neighborhoods safer.
-
Year-Round Park Maintenance: Reintroducing year-round garbage collection in public parks to promote cleaner, safer spaces for families and the community.
Together, we can make Ward 5 a safer and more welcoming place to live.

Building Housing Now
As your representative, I am committed to addressing the housing challenges we face and ensuring that everyone in Ward 5 has access to safe, affordable, and appropriate housing. My plan focuses on pragmatic and impactful solutions:
-
Streamlining Second Unit Applications and Providing Incentives:
I will work to simplify the process for homeowners to legally create and register second units, such as basement apartments, by reducing red tape and offering property tax rebates to encourage compliance. At the same time, I will push for stricter enforcement to crack down on illegal and unsafe rooming houses that can jeopardize the well-being of tenants and neighbors alike. -
Encouraging ‘Gentle Density’:
To address housing shortages without compromising the character of our neighborhoods, I will advocate for policies that support ‘gentle density,’ such as multi-plexes, garden suites, and laneway units. These housing options can help create more affordable homes while integrating seamlessly into existing communities. -
Requiring Affordable Housing in City-Led Developments:
I will ensure that any city-led housing projects include a significant portion of affordable units, so we can provide more options for residents who need them most. This approach will prioritize sustainable, inclusive growth that benefits everyone in Ward 5.
By implementing these initiatives, we can tackle housing challenges head-on and build a community where everyone has a place to call home.
Make Affordability a Priority
I am committed to ensuring that everyone in Ward 5 can thrive by addressing the cost-of-living challenges families and seniors face. My plan focuses on practical, meaningful measures to make life more affordable:
-
Deferring Property Taxes for Low-Income Seniors:
I will fight to implement a program that allows low-income seniors to defer property taxes, helping them stay in their homes and manage expenses with greater ease during retirement. -
Affordable Camps and Programs for Families:
I will work to offer $10/day city-run camps and recreational programming for low-income families, ensuring children have access to enriching activities without placing financial strain on their parents. -
Enhancing Parks and Green Spaces:
By investing in our parks, I will create safe, welcoming, and affordable spaces where everyone in the community can gather, play, and enjoy nature without cost barriers.
These initiatives will help reduce financial burdens and make Ward 5 a more inclusive and affordable place for all residents.

Get Us Moving Safely and Quickly
Improving transportation and ensuring safe, efficient travel options are vital for the future of Ward 5. My plan focuses on practical solutions to enhance mobility for everyone in our community:
-
Enhancing MiWay Transit:
I will work closely with MiWay to prioritize safe and well-lit bus stops, reduce overcrowding during peak times, and ensure public transit is fully accessible for all riders, including seniors and those with mobility challenges. -
Advocating for Better GO Train Services:
I will fight for increased GO Train frequency and critical station upgrades to make commuting more convenient and reliable for residents. Improved train services are essential for reducing congestion and connecting our community to the broader region. -
Delivering Milestone Projects on Time:
Projects like the Goreway Bridge are crucial for improving traffic flow and reducing delays. I will push to ensure these vital infrastructure projects are completed on schedule and meet the needs of our growing community.
Together, we can create a transportation system that gets us where we need to go safely, quickly, and efficiently.
Foster A Sense of Community
Building a strong, connected community is at the heart of everything I do. My plan is focused on initiatives that bring people together and celebrate the unique identity of Ward 5:
-
Establishing Residents Associations:
I will work to create Residents Associations for distinct communities like Britannia and Malton, giving residents a stronger voice in local decision-making and fostering collaboration to address community-specific needs. -
Expanding Local Festivals:
I am committed to growing and improving free community events, such as the annual Canada Day celebration and the Diwali Festival, to bring neighbors together, celebrate our diversity, and create lasting memories for families. -
Completing the Avro Arrow Project:
I will see through the $3-million replica Avro Arrow project that I’ve been leading since 2019, highlighting Malton’s rich history and creating a landmark that inspires pride in our community.
Together, we can strengthen the bonds that make Ward 5 a vibrant and inclusive place to live.
