Councillor Hart Calls for Transparency from Metrolinx over Hurontario LRT
“After many months of requests for an update, Metrolinx presented to Council today on the Hurontario (Hazel McCallion Line) LRT. Unfortunately, they only agreed to provide this update in closed session, which means I’m limited in what I can share with you.
My concerns with this project are well known, including the need for better communication, clearer timelines, and stronger support for affected businesses. The in camera setting limits my ability to share details of what was discussed and creates understandable frustration for those most directly impacted.
This project continues to have real, day-to-day impacts on Ward 5 residents and local businesses—from ongoing construction and traffic disruptions to challenges accessing homes, services, and storefronts. Residents and business owners deserve clear, timely information so they can plan ahead with confidence.
I believe you deserve to be kept informed about projects that shape your neighbourhoods and daily lives. I will continue to advocate for greater transparency, more public updates, and meaningful engagement so our community is not left in the dark.”
