The Goreway Bridge is Officially Open

The highly anticipated Goreway Drive overpass is now open. Connecting Mississauga and Brampton, the newly constructed four-lane overpass over the CN rail tracks will significantly reduce traffic and allow for smoother travel for drivers, cyclists and pedestrians.

Prior to construction, three sets of CN railway tracks crossed through Goreway Drive, about 300 meters north of Brandon Gate Drive in Mississauga. As one of the busiest freight train lines in the region, with approximately 50 freight trains using the east-west tracks per day, this caused significant traffic delays.

With the new four-lane overpass, drivers, cyclists and pedestrians will now travel over the CN railway tracks, eliminating the delays caused by the trains.

The completed Goreway Drive Improvement Project also includes:

• New curbs, sidewalks, multi-use trail and landscaping

• New retaining walls

• New watermains and sewers

• New street lighting

Construction on the overpass started in September 2023. The total budget for the project was roughly $40 million and funded by the City of Mississauga, City of Brampton and CN Rail.
